E-Distribuție Muntenia launched a procurement procedure for concrete pillars worth 21 million lei

Bucharest, July 11, 2023 – E-Distribuție Muntenia, the electricity distribution operator in Bucharest and in Ilfov and Giurgiu counties, part of the Enel Group, has launched, through the SEAP (SICAP) public procurement IT system, a procurement procedure for concrete pillars. The contracts will be of framework agreement type, with a duration of 36 months and a maximum estimated value of 20.99 million lei.

The pillars will be used for investment and maintenance works. The projects target, in particular, localities in Ilfov and Giurgiu counties, which will be carried out in the coming years.

Under the contract, approximately 4,500 concrete pillars will be purchased, which will contribute to the modernization and maintenance of approximately 225 kilometers of medium and low voltage grid. The pillars to be purchased are circular, centrifuged, which ensure increased reliability and resistance, having a longer life span and, implicitly, operation duration.

In March 2023, E-Distribuție Muntenia was managing a network consisting of over 49,000 medium voltage pillars and more than 213,000 low voltage pillars in Bucharest and Ilfov and Giurgiu counties.

E-Distribuție Muntenia is the distributor with the best SAIDI indicator (average duration of grid interruptions per user, throughout a year) in Romania in 2021, with 98.52 minutes for unplanned interruptions, well below the national average.

Since 2008, E-Distribuție Muntenia has made investments of approximately 3.5 billion lei in the modernization and digitization of the power grid, in the refurbishment of primary substations and substations and in the replacement of measuring equipment, with a direct impact on the grid's ability to distribute energy to new consumers and improve the management of unplanned interruptions, for the safe supply of customers. E-Distribuție companies have carried out, since the beginning of their activity in the country until 2022, investment projects totaling almost 7.5 billion lei, most of them in digitization, in the refurbishment of primary substations and substations and in the modernization of the distribution grid.

E-Distribuție companies operate networks with a total length of over 133,000 kilometers in three important areas of the country: South Muntenia (including Bucharest), Banat and Dobrogea, covering one third of the local distribution market, and are developing an investment program to improve service quality, the safety and performance of networks and local implementation of Enel Group's environmental standards. The power grids operated by the three E-Distributie companies include 287 primary substations and over 24,000 substations. In 2022, they distributed 15.5 TWh of electricity through high, medium and low voltage power lines.
