Start of the implementation phase of the project “Increasing the distribution capacity of the 110 kV OHL D.C. Constanța Nord - Medgidia Nord, Nazarcea - Medgidia 1 ; 110 kV OHL Medgidia Nord - Mircea Vodă Nord; 110 kV OHL Mircea Vodă Nord - Mircea Vodă – Reinforcement works of the electricity grid upstream of the connection point of the production capacities in order to take electricity produced from renewable resources”

On 5 September 2022, Ministry of Investments and European Projects, as Managing Authority for the Large Infrastructure Operational Programme, along with E-DISTRIBUȚIE DOBROGEA S.A., as a beneficiary of the project for non-reimbursable funding allocated under the Large Infrastructure Operational Programme 2014-2020, Priority Axis 10 - Protect the health of the population in the context of the COVID-19 health crisis, increase energy efficiency, and use renewable energy sources, Specific objective 10.2. Increase energy efficiency and use renewable energy sources in preparation for a green, digital and resilient economic recovery, signed the Funding Contract for the implementation of the project entitled”Increasing the distribution capacity of the 110 kV OHL D.C. Constanța Nord - Medgidia Nord, Nazarcea - Medgidia 1 ; 110 kV OHL Medgidia Nord - Mircea Vodă Nord; 110 kV OHL Mircea Vodă Nord - Mircea Vodă – Reinforcement works of the electricity grid upstream of the connection point of the production capacities in order to take electricity produced from renewable resources”, Code SMIS 2014+ 148269.

Funding source: Large Infrastructure Operational Programme 2014-2020;

Priority Axis 10: Protect the health of the population in the context of the COVID-19 health crisis, increase energy efficiency, and use renewable energy sources with REACT-EU funding;

Specific objective 10.2: Increase energy efficiency and use renewable energy sources in preparation for a green, digital and resilient economic recovery;

Appeal: POIM/968/10/2/Increase energy efficiency and use renewable energy sources in preparation for a green, digital and resilient economic recovery.

The general objective of the project is to increase the security of supply of electricity to consumers and to ensure the technical conditions for the take-up of energy produced from RES by reducing the limitations imposed on renewable generators under N-1 conditions and making grid management more efficient.

The total value of the financing contract is RON 17,609,429.03, of which the eligible amount, financed by the Large Infrastructure Operational Programme 2014-2020, is RON 14,062,943.82 (99.62% of the total approved eligible amount, i.e. RON 14,117,384.72).

The implementation of this project, with a total duration of 39 months (01.10.2020 - 31.12.2023), leads to an increase in the degree of security of supply for customers, producers and consumers, by reducing the number of extensive breakdowns and increasing the distribution capacity of the grid, which will allow an increase in energy produced from renewable sources.

The expected results of the project are:

  • 4 upgraded stations (3 upgraded 110/6kV transformer substations: Mircea Voda, Medgidia Nord, Nazarcea and 1 upgraded 110kV connection station Mircea Voda Nord)
  • 14 km reconductored on segments of 4 110 kV OHL.

Project co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Large Infrastructure Operational Programme 2014-2020.
